TroubleshootingConversions Not Appearing

Conversions Not Appearing

Diagnose missing conversions with this checklist covering DNS, tag loading, triggers, vendor config, and platform delays.

You've set everything up but conversions aren't showing in your ad platforms. Walk through this diagnostic checklist from most common to least common cause.

Diagnostic Checklist

1. Is Your Domain Active?

Go to Domains in CleanClicks. Your domain must show Active status. If it's Pending Verification, DNS isn't set up yet. See DNS Problems.

2. Is the Tag Loading?

Open your website in a browser, press F12, go to the Network tab, reload, and search for cc.js. You need a 200 response from cleanclicks.yourdomain.com/__cc/cc.js.

3. Are Triggers Configured?

Go to Configuration > Triggers tab. You need at least one trigger. If the list is empty, no events will fire.

If you have triggers, verify:

  • The URL pattern matches your actual page URLs
  • The trigger type matches the action (e.g., form submission trigger for form pages)
  • For Button Click triggers, the CSS selector matches the actual button element

Test it: Perform the trigger action on your site in an Incognito window and check the CleanClicks dashboard.

4. Are Vendors Enabled?

Go to Configuration > Vendors tab. At least one vendor must be toggled on with valid credentials.

5. Are Connections Valid?

Go to Connections page. Each connected platform should show Connected status.

StatusAction
ConnectedGood. Move to next check.
Needs ReconnectionClick Disconnect, then Connect again.
ErrorCheck the error message. Re-enter credentials.

6. Are Credentials Correct?

For each vendor in Configuration > Vendors:

  • Google Ads: Customer ID format 123-456-7890, valid Conversion Action ID
  • Meta: Valid System User Token with ads_management + ads_read permissions, correct Pixel ID
  • TikTok: Valid access token, correct Pixel Code (starts with C)
  • Microsoft Ads: Valid Customer ID and Account ID
  • GA4: Correct Measurement ID (G-XXXXXXXXXX) and API Secret
  • Usermaven: Valid workspace token

7. Are You Waiting Long Enough?

Ad platforms don't process conversions instantly:

PlatformTypical Delay
CleanClicks dashboard1-5 minutes
GA4 Realtime30 seconds - 2 minutes
Meta Events Manager5-15 minutes
Google Ads1-24 hours (offline conversions)
TikTok5-15 minutes
Microsoft Ads4-24 hours

If you just triggered a test conversion, wait at least the time listed above before concluding it's not working.

8. Are Filters Blocking Your Test?

If you have traffic filters enabled:

  • Geo filter: Is your test from an allowed country?
  • IP filter: Is your IP on the blocklist? (Common if you added your office IP to exclude internal traffic)
  • Bot filter: Is your browser or VPN triggering bot detection?

Temporarily disable filters for testing, or test from an unfiltered location.

9. Platform-Specific Checks

  • Go to Goals > Conversions in Google Ads
  • Check the "Recent conversions" or "All conversions" columns
  • Offline conversions can take up to 24 hours to process
  • The conversion action must be set to Primary to count in campaign reporting

Meta

  • Go to Events Manager > your pixel
  • Check the Overview tab for recent events
  • Use a Test Event Code in CleanClicks (Configuration > Vendors > Meta) to see events in the Test Events tab in real time

GA4

  • Go to Realtime report in GA4
  • Events should appear within 30 seconds
  • If using Measurement Protocol: session stitching means events need a matching prior GA4 session to avoid "Unassigned" attribution

TikTok

  • Go to Events Manager in TikTok Ads
  • Check event activity for your pixel

Microsoft Ads

  • Check Conversion Goals in Microsoft Ads
  • Ensure auto-tagging is enabled for msclkid capture

Still Not Working?

If you've checked everything above:

  1. Check the CleanClicks dashboard for any error notifications
  2. Try a completely fresh test: new Incognito window, click an actual ad (or simulate with UTMs), complete a conversion
  3. Contact helpdesk@cleanclicks.io with your domain name and the specific platform that's not receiving data
