Your First Conversion
Verify your CleanClicks setup by testing a conversion end-to-end and confirming data appears in your dashboard and ad platforms.
You've completed onboarding. Your domain is verified, the tag is installed, and at least one ad platform is connected. Now let's make sure a conversion actually flows through the system.
What Needs to Be True
Before a conversion can be tracked, confirm:
- DNS is verified — your domain shows "Active" on the Domains page
- Tag is installed — the CleanClicks script is on your website
- At least one trigger is configured — a conversion event rule exists in Configuration > Triggers
- At least one platform is connected — with valid credentials on the Connections page
Testing a Conversion
Option A: Trigger It Yourself
- Open your website in a browser (use Incognito/Private mode for a clean session)
- Perform the action your trigger is set to capture (submit a form, visit a thank-you page, click a button, etc.)
- Check your CleanClicks dashboard within a few minutes
Option B: Use a Test Event Code (Meta)
If you're connected to Meta, you can use a Test Event Code in Configuration > Vendors > Meta. Meta's Events Manager will show test events in real time before they count toward your actual data.
Option C: Use Google Ads Debug Mode (GA4)
If GA4 is configured, enable debug mode in GA4's DebugView to watch events arrive in real time.
Where to See Results
Conversions flow to two places:
- Your CleanClicks dashboard — the home page shows recent activity and basic metrics
- Your ad platform — each connected platform receives the conversion via server-side relay
Allow a few minutes for data to appear. Ad platforms like Google Ads and Meta can take 15-30 minutes to reflect new conversions in their dashboards.
If It's Not Working
Walk through this checklist:
- Is your domain active? Check Domains page. If it says "Pending Verification," your DNS isn't set up yet. See DNS Problems.
- Is the tag installed? View your page source and search for
cc.js. If it's not there, see Tag Not Detected. - Is a trigger configured? Go to Configuration > Triggers. You need at least one active trigger.
- Are platform credentials valid? Go to Connections and verify each platform shows "Connected." If a connection shows an error, re-authenticate or re-enter your token.
- Are you testing from a filtered location? If you have geo or IP filters enabled, make sure your test traffic isn't being filtered out.

What Happens Behind the Scenes
When a visitor triggers a conversion event:
- The CleanClicks tag captures the event with all relevant data (click IDs, UTM parameters, session info)
- The event is sent to your first-party subdomain
- CleanClicks relays the conversion server-side to each connected ad platform
- The ad platform receives the conversion with proper attribution data
The whole process takes seconds. Because it's server-side, it works even when:
- The visitor has an ad blocker
- The browser restricts third-party cookies
- The visitor navigates away quickly after converting
